The FTHP offers financial assistance to first time eligible homebuyers for down payment assistance though a zero-interest deferred loan. The loan is repayable in the event of a transfer or change in property ownership, refinance, or if the property ceases to be the buyer’s primary residence. The program is funded by the U.S Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) HOME Investment Partnerships Program.
The City of Brockton through the Brockton Redevelopment Authority work in partnership with NeighborWorks Housing Solutions (NHS) to administer this program. Eligible buyers will be considered for funding of up to 3.5% of the purchase price for a maximum of $12,500 financial assistance ($10,000 from BRA and $2,500 from NHS). NHS will only provide their assistance if the mortgage for the property is not FHA. The funds are subject to availability. Loan payments on both loans will be deferred until there is a change in ownership or the property ceases to be the home buyer’s primary residence.
